VARSITY LOGISTICS EXPANDS SHIPSOFT WITH INTELLIGENT ALERTS
E-mail ship notification newest addition to Varsity's robust shipping solution
San Francisco, CA. April 29, 2002. Varsity Logistics, Inc., the pioneer of integrated multi-carrier shipping solutions for the AS/400, today announced that it has enhanced its award-winning transportation management solution, ShipSoft, with an e-mail ship notification feature, ShipTalk-Alerts. Alerts enable Varsity customers to significantly enhance customer service by providing real-time shipment visibility and reduce manual labor expenses through automation.
ShipSoft's new Alerts feature enables customers to automatically generate and send e-mail messages with line-item shipment detail to their consignees or other supply chain partners at the time a package is shipped. Customers create message templates to be used for email alerts and choose which data elements should be captured and included in the message (e.g. tracking #, carrier, COD Amount, items being shipped). In addition, users can design custom text to be included. Message templates can be populated with shipment data in order to create an alert, then the message is sent via e-mail directly from the AS/400.
"This release is an important step in expanding the intelligence and exception management features into our shipping applications," said Tony Phillips, Product Manager for Varsity. "Alerts allow ShipSoft users to push shipment information out to their customers, giving them more effective control, planning and visibility."
