TYCO HEALTHCARE SELECTS VARSITY’S SUPPLY CHAIN EXECUTION SUITE
Healthcare giant streamlines transportation with ShipSoft™
San Francisco, CA. June 18, 2002. Varsity Logistics, Inc., the pioneer of integrated small package shipping solutions for the IBM iSeries AS/400, announced that Mallinckrodt Respiratory, a division of Tyco Healthcare, has chosen Varsity's supply chain execution suite to automate and streamline their critical, high-volume parcel distribution processes. Tyco Healthcare, a division of Tyco International, is a multi-billion dollar global leader in the medical products industry. Tyco- Mallinckrodt Respiratory is the latest addition to a growing list of multi-national healthcare companies using Varsity's TMS suite.
"We need to ship thousands of packages a day out of our newly-relocated Atlanta distribution center," said Michael Pheney, IS Project Manager at Mallinckrodt. "We chose Varsity because they have a standard, proven interface to JD Edwards, a rapid implementation methodology, and superior product functionality."
"Tyco-Mallinckrodt is a fast moving organization and we needed a vendor that could keep up with us," continued Pheney. "Varsity will become an integral piece of Mallinckrodt Respiratory's standard rollout to new and existing distribution sites."
The initial implementation occurred in 150,000 of Tyco Healthcare's 800,000-square-foot facility in Atlanta, GA. To Tyco's delight, Varsity was able to bring the facility up in less than a month. This is due, in part, to the fact that the standard ShipSoft interface to JD Edwards worked "out-of-the-box", with minimal customization. The second phase of the project was finished late last year, which includes an upgrade for LTL shipments and international capabilities, as well as HAZMAT functionality.
